Wuttup y'all, this one's a big one. MAKID got a new look built to sit right next to Ableton Live, there's a new Jam mode for messing around with your old ideas, MAKID can now find your bounces wherever you export them, and MAKID on iPhone now has a free plan.

Features

  • New look. MAKID now matches Ableton Live with new Live and Live Light themes, a denser layout, and a cleaner window
  • Added Jam. It pulls up bounces from your library (especially the ones you forgot about) and splits them into drums, bass, vocals, and everything else. Solo or mute parts, tweak pitch, speed, and filter, loop sections, or swap in a part from another one of your songs that matches the tempo and key
  • Hit Riff it in Jam to turn whatever you're hearing into a brand new Ableton Live set right next to your original project. Your original project is never touched
  • MAKID now matches bounces in your export folders to the right projects. Tell MAKID where you keep your bounces and it links them for you. Anything it isn't sure about shows up in Settings for you to review
  • MAKID Mobile is now MAKID Pro: one plan for your whole library on your phone plus the Pro features on desktop. MAKID Pro is now unlimited, and existing Studio subscribers keep unlimited too
  • MAKID Pro is now available yearly for $69/year
  • MAKID on iPhone now has a free plan. Turn it on from the MAKID Pro page and your 10 latest bounces sync to your phone
  • MAKID Pro users can now download bounces on their phone for offline listening in the car, on planes, or on bad studio wifi
  • MAKID Pro users can turn on weekly "From your vault" notifications on their phone that bring back a bounce you haven't listened to in a while
  • Added a fresh listen card that brings back the project you most recently worked on once your ears have had a break
  • Bounces now show how many times you've played them. Hover the count to see how many plays were yours vs. autoplay and when you last listened
  • Dragging a bounce onto a project now links it in place instead of making a copy
  • MAKID Session Workspace now has track search, group folding, mute/solo, loop ranges, and waveform and MIDI previews
  • Projects that fail to sync to your phone now retry automatically, and the MAKID Pro page shows anything that isn't up to date, why, and a Retry button
  • Bounces up to 500MB now sync to your phone (up from 100MB)
  • Table rows are now compact by default. Switch back in Settings > Appearance
  • Release notes now show what's in an update before you install it
  • Drop projects onto the welcome screen to import them
  • Press Escape to close the action sidebar

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed missing waveforms for some WAV files
  • Fixed the wrong tempo showing for some Ableton Live projects
  • Fixed Session Preview stacking every recorded take on top of each other in Live 12 sets that use take lanes
  • Fixed projects not opening in the version of Ableton Live you picked in Settings
  • Fixed Sync All skipping watched folders
  • Fixed bounces sometimes getting linked to the wrong project when projects live inside each other's folders
  • Fixed playback starting on its own if you paused while a Session Preview was loading

  • Fixed the right-click menu staying open when clicking inside an expanded project row

Optimizations

  • Session Preview now handles tempo changes, clip timing, and samples more accurately
  • MAKID no longer keeps rescanning projects that haven't changed in the background

Introducing rich MAKID notes components

Slash commands now allow you to add timestamps, bounces, sessions, and feedback to project notes.

Features

  • Type / in project notes to add rich MAKID components such as (timestamp, bounce, session, and feedback)
  • Improved MAKID recovery flows. Collections, tags, comments, and other data are persisted. Meaning if you reset your MAKID DB your MAKID data will sync on import. More work to come here to enable syncing data on new machines.
  • Made update notifications less obtrusive/noisy
